CORPUS is often confused and misunderstood. The literal meaning of the term corpus is the main part/organ of a body. The term corpus also denotes the sum and substance of an issue/entity.

UNDERWATER, in securities, is securities held in a portfolio with an unrealized market loss. Selling them would mean real­izing the loss and, according to statutory accounting, a reduction in policyholders' surplus.

ANALYSTS' ESTIMATES is where analysts, stockbrokers and banks give opinions and forecasts (often referred to as estimates) as to future company performance. Broker recommendations and other data are provided by Barra's Global Estimates service. BARRA collate and analyze the brokers' forecasts, and calculate consensus figures from the individual data.
