STANDARD AND POORS (S&P) 500 is an index of the 500 largest, most actively traded stocks on the New York Stock Exchange. It provides a guide to the overall health of the US stock market.

PERSONAL EQUITY is that portion of equity ownership that is held to ones own benefit or invested as an integral part of the assets of a legal entity.

HYPOTHESIS is a proposition about cause and effect relationships. A hypothesis involves anticipating an effect, and a means of observing whether the anticipation is correct.
