UNREALIZED INCOME (paper profit) is profit which has been made but not yet realized or collected through a transaction, such as a stock which has risen in value but is still being held. also called unrealized gain or unrealized profit or paper gain or book profit.
HAIRCUT is the amount of reduction in market value given to securities pledged as collateral, typically in a repurchase agreement or a reverse repurchase agreement. This reduction assures the lender of funds in this type of transaction that, even if the collateral's market value declines, there is time to call for additional collateral to bring the collateral value back up to an acceptable level.
NO-LOAD FUND is a mutual fund sold directly to investors without commissions paid to salesmen or other up-front costs. Some funds charge surrender fees, although a pure no-load fund has no sales, exit or marketing fees.
